I can’t believe it, in all the years I have been photographing weddings I have never photographed at Carriageworks. Located at 245 Wilson Street Everleigh. Just outside of the Sydney CBD. More on Carriageworks later.
It was the wedding of Adriana & Chris. Married in the Nurses War Memorial chapel in Little Bay.
Adriana & Chris are both Coffee nuts. So much so, they organised to meet their guests at Little Bays local cafe after the ceremony. On the guests tables at the reception venue everyone had their own personalised coffee cups.
As an added bonus it was the last night of Vivid in Sydney. Their venue, La Aqua in Darling Harbour had the perfect vantage point to showcase Vivid in all its glory. With a fireworks display going off what seemed virtually every hour.
Now, back to Carriageworks. If you are after rustic, texture, vintage, old school feel kind of yesteryear. Then Carriage works should be at the top of your list when deciding where you have your wedding images. Only problem was that when enquires were made to see if wedding images could be taken there. They informed that they couldn’t help. So we decided we would risk it anyway.
Being later on in the day and nearing closing time we figured we should be okay. So we took the chance and headed to Carriageworks. Its not a huge place were we could shoot but plenty of variety all the same.
If you want a similar feel to The Rocks in Sydney but want something that is a bit more unique in the way that not as many couples have their wedding photographs done there. Ten this is a must.
It has a real industrial warehouse feel. Red brick and rust everywhere. It really wouldn’t look out of place in movie thriller.
Rust and red brick of Carriageworks. The reflections from the aftermath of rain also adds a nice touch
The backdrop of Carriageworks really lends itself to the old photo treatment look
If you love the hipster deadpan look then this is the perfect backdrop.
Groom and best man going at it. Or should I say Luke and Lord Vader.
I did say they were coffee nuts
A great way to top off the night with the Vivid Sydney fireworks.
