The wedding photography of Tara & Ric. Held on Queensland’s stunning Kingfisher Bay Resort Fraser Island. It was a long trip from Sydney but boy, was it so worthwhile.
Kingfisher Bay resort has some of the most spectacular scenery. It is a wedding photographers ideal location to create an eye catching portfolio.
Back to Tara & Ric’s wedding. The morning started in the resorts nature inspired villas. Starting at the girls, then to the boys and finally back to the girls for the final touch ups.
The ceremony took place right on the beach. 150 meters up from the jetty.
Although I’m sure most of the guests wished for a sunny day. I was secretly happy that there was some nice cloud coverage. Cloud coverage gives you much more option in terms of where you can shoot.
I really wanted to get the best out of the island so the day before I scouted around for the best possible locations. I had more than enough possible areas to shoot. We managed to get around to most of them with the time we had.
Tara and Ric wanted a really easy going relaxed atmosphere. Not getting around to all the locations I had in mind meant they were able to cruise around and really take in the day without it flying by before they knew it.
We headed around the Island for an hour and a bit, my favorite spot being among the forest which happened to be about 50 meters from the ceremony and only 20 meters from the inside of the resort villas. That’s how great this spot is. You only have to walk around the corner and you have something totally new to photograph.
At sunset we headed back to the jetty to grab the last ray of light, hoping to get a spectacular sunset. Although not a sunset we all hoped for it just meant I had to be a little more creative with off camera flash technique.
The reception was held on the undercover part next to the main pool in the resorts main hub.
Like the ceremony and location shoot, the reception had a really relaxed vibe about it.
